Scabuzzo Wins Edward Weiss Memorial Award

Buckman’s Eduardo Scabuzzo and Luis Stertz

Eduardo Scabuzzo, who has been with Buckman for 16 years, works in Southern Cone as a leather account coordinator. He joined Buckman with 13 years of experience in tanneries in Argentina. For many years, Eduardo was the only sales associate for leather in Argentina, providing both technical service for customers and supporting a steady sales growth. Since 2016, he has been responsible for leather sales in the Uruguayan market.

“One of Eduardo’s greatest attributes is that he is admired and respected by Buckman customers and associates,“ said Luis Stertz, Leather Division Manager-Brazil. “I see him as a key element in growing and sustaining our business in Southern Cone. It is a pleasure to work with Eduardo and I look forward to his many future achievements.”

Eduardo Scabuzzo, who was presented the award in March, is the 15th recipient of the Edward Weiss Memorial Award. The award’s namesake, Ed Weiss, was a graduate of the Tanner’s Council Leather School, located at the University of Cincinnati. As a young graduate, Ed was hired at Buckman in 1952 by Stanley J. Buckman to begin selling microbicides in the leather industry. For many years, Ed was the senior technical specialist in leather for Buckman, and much of Buckman’s success in the leather industry can be attributed to Weiss’ efforts. He is often referred to as the “father of leather” at Buckman and therefore it was very fitting for this annual honor to be named after him.
