At a special award ceremony on October 5, the Brazilian Pulp & Paper Association (ABTCP) named Buckman, located in Campinas, Sao Paulo, as the Best Chemical Supplier of the Year for the Pulp & Paper segment. General Manager Carmen Rodrigues accepted the award on behalf of Buckman. This award was the result of a survey conducted among the top pulp and paper companies in Brazil, which gave Buckman the winning endorsement. Buckman was chosen by many pulp and paper companies for its innovative products, technical support, and problem-solving skills. Equally important are the company's long lasting business relationships and highly qualified people who are committed to the pulp and paper industry and to helping individual companies improve production efficiency and their return on investment.

ABTCP held its 43rd Pulp and Paper International Congress and Exhibition, October 4-6, at the Transamérica ExpoCenter in Sao Paulo. This leading event in Latin America was held in cooperation with TAPPI, the sister association in the United States. The first ever Tissue Symposium was also held during this conference. There were 15,000 attendees from many countries around the world who took part in this three-day convention.
