Versatility of Busperse® 47 in the Leather Industry

Busperse 47 is an 85% biobased, renewable non-ionic dispersant and penetrant. It is one of the most versatile products in the leather industry and can be used from raw to crust, from soaking to fatliquoring. Busperse 47 can be used in all leather processes except in the following stages for waterproof leathers: wet blue, retan and fatliquoring.

Busperse 47 is a Buckman exclusive product to be successfully used in the following applications:

    Soaking of Hides and Skins

For Dried Hides and Skins and In Soaking of Salted/Brine Cured Hides

The penetrating effect of Busperse 47 can reduce soaking time and improve soaking uniformity, bringing the hides and skins more uniformly within and from piece to piece.

    Unhairing and Liming of Hides

Busperse 47 helps the penetration of sulfide and sulfhydrate, promoting more uniform unhairing and removal of keratin that can cause scud on the hides. The drawn is also reduced once the chemical distribution action is more uniform. Busperse 47 can also help with lime penetration and uniform distribution in the hides.

Retan of Wet Blue and Splits

Wet blue from different origins, either split or grain side, can benefit from the action of Busperse 47 in the wet back step. The benefits are improvement of color uniformity within the leather piece and within the leather batch. Busperse 47 will promote a better and uniform fat distribution, improving the dye uniformity in the subsequent operation, as well as a more consistent temperature.

Using Busperse 47 is particularly helpful on old wet blues (grain or split) that have oxidized natural fats, producing yellowing and a rancid smell. Busperse 47 will improve the uniformity of the fat distribution and minimize the color variation significantly.

Improvement of dye penetration and uniformity

Add the Busperse 47 together with the dye to improve dye penetration.

    Fatliquoring

The use of Busperse 47 improves leather softness by improving the fatliquoring distribution inside the leather. Busperse 47 will make leathers with more consistent temper. Its use is particularly important to improve up to 30% of the tear and stitch strength of the leathers. Physical properties of leather made with Busperse 47 can be significantly improved.
