    Enzymes are the Greener Choice

Enzymes are naturally occurring proteins produced by organisms for the purpose of speeding up chemical reactions which are beneficial to the organisms.  Given that enzymes are proteins, they are very low toxicity and of course biodegradable.  Enzymes are made from renewable raw materials and are isolated through the growth of microorganisms which produce them.

This gives enzymes a big advantage over petroleum based dry strength resins and energy intensive refining.  The mill’s carbon footprint is reduced significantly when using enzymes in place of these older approaches, and the tissue maker saves money in the process.  At Buckman, we can assist you in quantifying the carbon footprint benefits you can derive from using enzymes such that you can report them to your shareholders or regulatory bodies.
