Buckman, a global company that specializes in innovative chemical and smart solutions, recently received three awards from Lifeblood, the area’s non-profit blood donation center.
At Lifeblood’s annual awards and recognition ceremony, Buckman was named Corporate Group of the Year. Other nominees in the category included AutoZone and Medtronic. In addition, Buckman also received an award for its continued financial support of the non-profit blood center, and Phyllis Lacki, Buckman’s nurse and Lifeblood team leader, received the “Dick Benson Community Service Award” for her dedication to recruiting volunteer blood donors at Buckman’s blood drives.
Buckman’s global headquarters in Memphis, Tenn. hosts four blood drives annually. In 2017, the company’s associates donated more than 300 units of blood, surpassing its annual goal. “Blood donations are vitally important to the Memphis community,” said Phyllis Lacki. “The Mid-South is home to a Level 1 trauma center and many hospitals and medical facilities that rely on blood donations, and Buckman is proud to play a small role in helping local patients receive what they need to live.”
In 2010, Buckman designated blood donations as one of its global BuckmanCares initiatives, dedicating a team of Buckman associates to drive the company’s blood donation efforts. In 2017, 520 pints of blood were donated by Buckman associates around the globe.
