Superior, cost-effective microbicide for oilfield operations with Dazomet
Dazomet is a 24% active broad-spectrum microbicide that performs well in downhole oilfield applications under high temperature and high pressure. It is compatible with other additives commonly used in hydraulic fracturing fluids.
Dazomet provides slow, extended kill with impressive performance versus common oilfield biocides. It is highly effective against both aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, including slime-forming bacteria, spoilage bacteria, sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB), and acid-producing bacteria (APB). Dazomet’s effective microbial control provides cost advantages due to the dosage required. It has also shown synergy with other biocidal applications. Dazomet is fully biodegradable and non-carcinogenic.
Dazomet, also sold as Busan® 1058, can be applied in fracturing fluids, injection and disposal fluids, pipelines, water tanks and drilling fluids.
In laboratory testing at 100 and 250 ppm, Dazomet exhibited a slow rate of kill at either treatment rate but was highly effective in the term of 120 days. This product would be recommended for downhole oilfield applications for long term kill efficacy. Dazomet was the most effective product for a long-term kill. This product had a greater than 97% efficacy in a 120-day period at both the 100 and 250 ppm treatment rates.
